11th Century Origins

The Shangpa Lineage took shape in the 11th Century through the extra-ordinary study, practice and activity of Kyungpo Naljor. Having exhausted the teachings available in Tibet and still thirsting for deeper realization, he travelled through India meeting many realized masters of that time. Of the 150 masters he considered his root teachers, four  were particularly close and of these, two were crucial to his teachings, Niguma and Sukasiddhi.

These two fully awakened women became the principal inspiration of the Shangpa Lineage through numerous teachings but specifically through their individual systems of Six Yogas (Inner Heat, Illusory Body, Lucid Dreaming, Clear Light, Transference, Intermediate State). As a way of guaranteeing the vitality of her teachings throughout the centuries to come Niguma sealed her teachings to a one-to-one transmission for seven generations later to be known as the Seven Jewels of the Sealed Shangpa Lineage.

I am happy. So much to share out of my heart. If you want you can put it here in smaller packages.
If I was not given transmissions and teachings of this ancient wisdom- women, I could not keep up looking at the Japan news these days.
This confidence is only possible through the truth of the lineage. Spiritual practice of any authentic lineage is such a jewel and real support! Thank you for all your Dharma activities, Rinpoche!
How do you feel about training the people in Japan, rinpoche? Those who do not feel ok? What is happening behind for them? Do you have contacts to buddhists in Japan? How can we support in everydaylife all those traumatised people! I cannot imagine what would happen in Germany under similar conditions. Everybody would go crazy, overactivated? How could we calm down all these well educated computerpeople? They are not able to survive without all this comfort one day! The main reaction here is on the political level. We are going to stopp nuclear energysystems in Europe! This seems to be a collective wish now. Though we cannot wipe out all faults from the past decisions. Can we?
Me personally, I wonder also about the psychic changes and the shifting to spiritual practice because of the loss of faith in materialistic lifestyle. Do more people start praying now? The japanese seem so calm and rely on their develloped sense of connectedness. Our society here feels very different. And I see that the situation in Japan is only compareable to the situation ín and after the second world war in Europe and Japan. The uncontrollable forces of the environmental changes is threatening even more, since youn cannot say please stopp earth, please stop Plutonium, or can we? What about buddist methods of pacifying the energies? I do pray from the bottom of my heart, to ease the turbulences.
Me as an artist I am working on a big painting called the mother´s prayer for her son. This painting gives me a lot of peace. If everybody could be in this peace no harm could take place anywhere. But we cannot drive back the consequences of the wrongdoings towards the nature, the nuclear fallouts. Counting them is no fun. Our children have to find ways to cope with the desasterous escalations everywhere. Shouldn´t you start training children right now? I beg you to give children your main efford, rinpoche. They will be learning much faster than adults and they will inspire the older ones. With your love and compassion you reach every heart, rinpoche. Freedom is guaranteed by your smile.
If everybody could act and speak out of a peaceful heart, every human being would do the choice to be happy, would this change the electromagnetic field of the whole earth? How many of us are happy? How many do we need to shift the world condition into peace? Breathing in and out freely.
Looking at your smiling face is connecting with the experience of unconditional love, nothing is held back. Natural openess, very friendly atmosphere, i would love to be with you all in Spain and France! I am finishing my painting and sending you my love. yours, Monika

Many times I had been confused about the diversity of lineages.
I know now where the inspiration of ours and its exact name is: Shangpa-kagyu, initiated by Kyungpo Naljor, who was inspirated by Niguma & Sukasiddhi, in the 11th. century. Isn’t it? It’s so hard !! jajajj !
My best wishes for all of you.

Is it possible to always be hungry of thirsty for ‘a deeper’ realization…?
    I mean…
I remember my lama, Sogyal Rinpoche, saying often…it is possible that we have been introduced in the Nature of Mind…and still keep searching for the ‘truth’ elsewhere…as if “We keep the elephant at home, and are going to look for it’s footprints in the forest”…I was little ashamed when I heard this the first time, since it is what I tend to do…and it is really fun…and can even save a lineage…as is written above with Kyungpo Naljor…who met Niguma and Sukasiddhi, but I can’t compare myself with a great yogi-master like Kyungpo Naljor…who took probably uncountable hardships and who had tremendous compassion and envy to free all sentients beings on the path to enlighenment…and already realized and stabilized the teachings he recieved in from the great masters in Tibet…and seemingly he still was in search for a new, another method like the 7 jewels of sealed Shangpa lineage…which makes me anyway very curious…and how marvelous would it be if we all could practice these too! Thank you, dearest Yangsi Kalu Rinpoche. Wish you love and wisdom and courage to continue…hope to meet again.
